Get Ready To Run

Hello Fit Temples,

… and the running season is underway.

*Checks body weight, stamina level, state of running shoes, super-cool looking running shades, and the gloriously unpredictable British weather*  Sigh! I don’t think I am ready to take this running thing fully outside yet, but I know I have too sooner or later; rain or not!

Needless to say if you reside in the United Kingdom, you will agree with me that we are waiting patiently (or not) for the summer sun to shine forth and remain up there! It has been nothing but glorious rain for the past few weeks or so.

If you love running like I do, you would know that the running season is upon us.

As I do every year, I look through the running events on offer and choose one or a few to tag my name and sweat to! Even as I type, my body is shaking in protest, asking “why can’t we just rest through this summer like a million other folks do?” That said, maybe I will venture on an European or an American racing / trekking challenge, but that would mean I would have to raise a great deal of money for charity to make it really worth it. Hands up those who would sponsor me!

On that note, here are a few events I found; hopefully they might be of interest to you too.

Running Events (mostly in the UK):

5k Runs
Race for Life, Hyde Park, Adidas women 5k challenge

10k Runs
Cancer Research Race for life, British 10K

Half Marathons
Run to the Beat , Royal park Foundation

Marathons
Virgin active Marathon This took place in April this year, however you can register for next year’s event and The great North run.

Don’t like running? Why not try walking / trekking out in the open country air? Trekking events can be found at doitforcharity.

If that’s too boring, and you are looking for something a bit more interesting, how about conquering the Great Wall of China? Visit Marie Curie for more information.

If you feel you need a bit more help to get going, in the UK, the military run a number of boot camp programmes throughout the year. More information can be found at Military Fitness Boot Camp.

You can find these and more challenging events in UK and around the world at Runner’s world.

I by the way, have signed up for the Run to the Beat and Royal park Foundation challenges so far. I have also dragging Benjamin from the team along. He is not too happy about it though. The rest of the team, Yinka and Doose, I plan to work my charm on them to get them running alongside us too!

My body is not too happy that it will be doing another 13.1 miles run in September and then again in October.  I do wish the rain will abate for a bit so I can take training outside. Lord what do you say?

So, what challenge will you be putting your Fit Temple though this year?  Please do share with us.

Until then, keep it moving people

Much Love, Remi

Heeeyyyyyyyyyy, I didn’t say I wasn’t happy about, just wanted to train for mixed martial arts competition this year.
Guess i can do it another time, but yesss, body is 70% ready for it (turning my back on the weather as I kiss my teeth), mind is 75 and the rest, well….. let’s just leave it as that, shall we. heheheee

LOL… well, I had to almost twist your arm… almost.
Yeah, talking about the weather, we might just need to do the training runs in our raincoats!
Body and mind is ready, not sure about the percentage though. More outdoor running / training required – pronto!
