Good sense is a fountain of life to him who has it, but the instruction of fools is folly. Proverbs 16:22 ESV
Whatever we want to become we must understand what it is, and how to get it. For anyone who wants to embark on a journey to fitness, it is paramount that you understand the structure of your body and then introduce a flow of balanced diet and exercise to keep it healthy. Taking care of our bodies is also equally important. The body is a beautiful and complex living thing. God designed it to endure a lot of enforced hard work and natural elements. However, it is also made to be loved and treated with respect.
A body is a like a car. For a car to run properly, it requires the right type of fuel. Our bodies need the required quantity and complexity of nutrients and exercise for it to function properly. For example, under or over-eating will hinder the smooth-running processes of the body’s metabolism.
Before embarking on a fitness regime, it helps to understand your body type so that your exercise is tailored to have greater effect and achieve desired results. We all come in different shapes and sizes and fit into one of the following categories: Mesomorphs, Ectomorphs and Endomorphs.
Mesomorph body type is muscular in nature. If you are one, then your body type is usually the envy of all gym rats because you can increase your muscle size quickly and easily. You will tend to have well-defined chest and shoulders. Your abs will be taut; buttocks, thighs, and calves are also toned and defined.
Ectomorph body type is slim in nature. If you are one, then you are probably tall and slender looking. You will have trouble gaining weight – boohoo! You will most likely have a delicate build, narrow hips and pelvis, and long arms and legs. Your muscle and bone outlines are visible and will most likely have less fat and muscle mass than other body types.
Endomorph body type is curvy in nature. If you are one, you might store body fat in the middle and lower regions of your body (lower belly, hops and upper thighs).
And there you have it! So if you are planning to embark on a fitness regime or change of lifestyle, as well as consulting a doctor for advice, I encourage you to get intimate with your body type; know its nature, shape and make up.
Finally, remember, ‘Garbage in’ equals ‘Garbage out’. Just as you would not fill an unleaded petrol engine car with Diesel, I encourage you not to fill your body, God’s temple, with junk food the world is eager to offer. If you want to see a new and improved you, look after your temple and it will look after you, serve you well and last you throughout this journey called life.
Keep it healthy people…!
Much Love,
Remi
