Hello fellow readers,

I hope we have had a great week of reading and learning. How did we do with the book for week 36, Purity – A new moral revolution?  It is safe to say that this book is quite a challenge read.  After reading, I am thankful for and to the God of second, third and a millionth chances!

In this day and age where ‘purity’ is an ancient word, it is comforting to know that there is hope for us even if we had fallen into the ways of the word.  The hope is rekindled when we make that decision to be pure and treat our body, mind and heart as the temple of God.  Once we make that decision, God is faithful and awesome to help us through by working with and alongside the Holy Spirit to stand by our vows.

Still on this month’s theme of Celibacy, our proof reader extra ordinary, Yinka recommends a book for us to read.

For week 37 we will be reading the book: Passion and Purity by Elisabeth Elliot

Yinka explains that this book gave him an insight into what it means to truly live a life that is consecrated to God. It doesn’t just focus on sexual purity, but it delves deep into the heart, helping you to seek out your innermost thoughts, confirming what is right, and discarding what isn’t. He especially recommends the edition with the forward by Joshua Harris.

Brief Synopsis:
“Using her own life as an example, Elisabeth Elliot guides singles of both genders and of any age on how to put their love lives under the authority of Jesus Christ. Passion and Purity covers dating issues such as: how to know which person is the right one to marry; loving passionately while remaining sexually pure; the mans and woman’s role in relationships; putting Gods desires ahead of personal desires; how far is too far, physically. Based on stories, journal entries, and letters chronicling her own five-year courtship with Jim Elliot, Elisabeth gives frank advice, scriptural directives, and compassionate examples of what it means to follow Christ in the midst of heartache and impatience. The perfect antidote for those who flounder in the thinking that the Bible doesn’t say anything about dating, Elliot’s short chapters are filled with nuggets of wisdom that spell out exactly the opposite. Until the will and the affections are brought under the authority of Christ, we have not begun to understand, let alone accept his lordship.”

We will be consuming this book from Monday 12th to Saturday 17th September.

The book comes in the following formats:

I encourage you to check your local libraries, bookstores, online bookshops and with family or friends for this book. It promises to be an inspirational, uplifting and life changing book.

Happy Reading folks,

Much Love,
Remi
